We did our yearly Thanksgiving dinner on Saturday, October 11th, 2025. Initially it was going to be just Mike, Carol, Patrick, Hazel and Jon. Hazel and I did our regular walk the dog excursion with Zoë who mentioned they had no plans, so we were joined by Zoë, Mia, and Carter. Mia was eager to go the Cougars game so we were later joined by Scott. So 9 people for a 6.22 kg bird.
The food was as follows, all were a great success:
- Butterball Turkey – 6.22 kg. I used salted butter under the skin and for basting – seasoned with garlic powder, onion powder, sage and poultry seasoning.
- Stuffing was made from bakery buns. Seasoned with sage and poultry seasoning.
- Candied carrots
- Whipped potatoes
- Whipped sweet potatoes
- Cranberries made from frozen with orange juice
- Brussel sprouts
- Dinner rolls
- Dessert was pumpkin pie with whipping cream for Carol. Kids made homemade Blizzards with a variety of things – Hazel pureed pumpkin pie and ice cream. The other kids mixed Neapolitan ice cream with oreos.
