It was a great Christmas. Got off work on Tuesday, December 23rd and drove all night to Vernon. Made good time - something like 7:20 for 650 km. Ryan, Becky and kids were awesome. Had a good visit with all concerned. Drove back on December 27th. Took a bit longer, something like 7:45. The road from Vernon to Falkland was if not the worst stretch of road I've ever driven then in the top three for sure. It was all I could do to keep within the lines on the road driving 30+ km under the speed limit with studded ice/snow tires.

Racial segregation and other ways to pass a Tuesday night...
What a fantastic evening! I just had a great night out at Toastmasters. We did a Tuesday speech-a-thon with 7 speakers. It was fantastic.
My mom did a demonstration speech on the "amiable amaryllis".
Mr Mantler did a speech on the inevitability of death and the need for estate planning.
I gave a relatively impromptu speech on Rosa Parks. Turned out fantastic. I talked about how one person can really make a difference in the world. How often do you get to talk about the mentally retarded getting forcibly sterilized, the Indians not being able to vote and black/white racial segregation in Alabama? Brilliant and I got to quote a whole bunch of Martin Luther King Jr.
All in all an excellent night.
